Overview

Objective

The FP Foresight UK Infrastructure Income strategy seeks a positive total return underpinned by a 5% dividend yield over a five-year investment term by investing in UK-listed infrastructure and renewable energy companies with high-quality, predictable and inflation-linked cash flows.

Investment Approach

The UK's infrastructure base is at an investment inflection point. Governments and regulators are modernising electricity networks to support decarbonisation targets, energy security and growing electricity demand, creating a sustained pipeline of capital expenditure for the companies that own and operate critical infrastructure assets.

The FP Foresight UK Infrastructure Income Fund targets exactly these companies, providing focused, liquid exposure to UK infrastructure income with the defensive characteristics that come from long-duration, contracted revenue streams.

Commentary

FP Foresight UK Infrastructure Income

October Commentary

This is a marketing communication. Please refer to the prospectus, supplement, KIDs and KIIDs for the Funds (available on this website), which contain detailed information on their characteristics and objectives and full information on the risks, before making any final investment decisions.

The backdrop for UK income-producing assets remained challenging in the third quarter as gilt yields continued to rise. The 10-year gilt yield topped 5.2% in early September, its highest level since the global financial crisis, while 30-year yields reached levels not seen since the late 1990s. Higher long-term discount rates weigh on the valuations of long-duration, income-producing assets. Results from the UK-listed renewable funds during the quarter reaffirmed the strength of their underlying cash generation. Greencoat UK Wind generated more power than expected and comfortably covered its dividend, while The Renewables Infrastructure Group (TRIG) reaffirmed its 2026 dividend target. In regulated utilities, Ofwat closed its wastewater investigation into Severn Trent without a fine and provisionally approved additional spending for the company, a constructive signal for the sector. During the quarter we added to SSE and United Utilities to benefit from multi-year investment in UK grid and water infrastructure. In this month's commentary, we analyse events in the UK infrastructure market over the quarter, current portfolio positioning, and key news from our portfolio holdings.
