WHEB Sustainable Impact
Überblick
The WHEB Sustainable Impact Fund seeks capital growth over the long term by investing globally in companies providing solutions to critical social and environmental challenges.
The global economy is in the early stages of a transition to a zero-carbon, nature-positive and more sustainable system. Technologies and business models that stabilise the climate and support biodiversity are becoming more prevalent, while demand grows for better healthcare and healthier lifestyles to support ageing populations.
The WHEB Sustainable Impact Fund invests in these industries of the future, targeting high-quality, innovative businesses able to convert this demand into profits and attractive long-term returns.
The Fund is an SFDR Article 9 fund, meaning it has a clear sustainability objective incorporating both environmental and social aims and meets sustainability-related disclosure and reporting requirements.
Understanding impact is increasingly viewed as a third dimension of investment expertise, alongside the established disciplines of assessing investment risk and return.
A proprietary Impact Engine evaluates the intensity of the positive impact created by each company's products and services, providing an overall impact intensity rating. This sits alongside fundamental quality analysis, which assesses business model strength, financial management and the handling of environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues.
Why invest in a sustainable impact fund?
- Nine investment themes – Companies are selected across five environmental themes (Cleaner Energy, Environmental Services, Resource Efficiency, Sustainable Transport and Water Management) and four social themes (Education, Health, Safety and Well-being), capturing a broad opportunity set within the sustainability transition.
- Quality and impact – A proprietary Impact Engine and fundamental quality analysis work together to identify companies that are both genuinely additive and financially robust.
- Concentrated global exposure – A focused portfolio of 40 to 60 holdings provides genuine conviction while maintaining diversification across themes and regions.
- Clear sustainability credentials – SFDR Article 9 classification provides a transparent, regulated framework for investors seeking measurable impact alongside financial return.
- Active ownership – Ongoing engagement with portfolio company management supports continued progress on both social and environmental outcomes.
The WHEB Sustainable Impact Fund could be suitable for investors seeking broad exposure to the sustainability transition across both environmental and social themes, or as a core holding within a sustainable or impact allocation.

The WHEB Sustainable Impact Fund’s Q1 2025 report covers a quarter marked by US trade-policy uncertainty, weaker growth expectations and a sharp pullback in large technology stocks. In GBP, the MSCI World Index fell 4.6%; the Fund’s C share class returned -3.98% in USD, compared with -1.79% for its benchmark. American Water Works, Daifuku and Nextracker were the strongest contributors, while First Solar, Novo Nordisk, ATS and Power Integrations detracted. Resource Efficiency and Health were the weakest themes, and Education was the only positive contributor. The Fund initiated one position, Kurita Water, citing its industrial water-treatment capabilities and exposure to semiconductor manufacturing; there were no sales. The outlook noted continued policy-driven volatility alongside depressed valuations across sustainability-related industries.
