Overview

Objective

The Guinness Global Innovators strategy seeks capital appreciation and invests in high-quality growth companies.

Investment Approach

Companies that can sustain faster growth than the market can outperform over a cycle. But past performance is often a poor predictor of which firms can achieve this sustainable growth. That is why the search starts with a pool of companies that are harnessing innovation through exposure to long-lasting, secular growth themes.

The Guinness Global Innovators Fund is designed to capture the benefits of secular growth and innovation themes by investing in companies with the quality characteristics to harness them in the long term.

Global Innovators

August Commentary

This is a marketing communication. Please refer to the prospectus, supplement, KIDs and KIIDs for the Funds (available on this website), which contain detailed information on their characteristics and objectives and full information on the risks, before making any final investment decisions.

In July, the Guinness Global Innovators Fund returned -2.2% in GBP, compared with -0.9% for the MSCI World Index and -1.2% for the IA Global sector. The sharp reversal in AI and semiconductor shares weighed on the Fund’s overweight exposure: Lam Research, Applied Materials and KLA were its three weakest holdings as the MSCI World Semiconductor Index fell 13.2% in USD. Software provided a partial offset, led by Microsoft, Salesforce and Roper, while Intercontinental Exchange, Nasdaq, Thermo Fisher, Tencent and Medtronic also contributed positively. More broadly, investors reassessed the scale and returns of hyperscaler capital expenditure, with crowded momentum positioning amplifying the correction. Despite higher oil prices following renewed Middle East tensions, market expectations for interest rates changed relatively little during the month.
