Guinness Multi-Asset Balanced
Überblick
The Guinness Multi-Asset Balanced Fund seeks capital appreciation over the medium to long term, with returns generated through both capital growth and income, with a bias towards developed and liquid capital markets.
Managing portfolios across multiple asset classes is time-consuming and can hinder your efforts to grow your own business.
When you have investors with a medium risk profile and a tolerance for short-term fluctuations in pursuit of stronger long-term returns, constantly monitoring portfolios and reacting quickly to markets requires dedicated investment management, experience and expertise.
By allowing a multi-asset manager to take the day-to-day strain of managing your clients’ investments you can free up your time and resources to concentrate on building your business and client relationships.
The Guinness Multi-Asset Balanced Fund is designed for investors who are comfortable holding a majority of their investment in equities and are prepared to accept short-term fluctuations in portfolio value in pursuit of higher long-term returns.

The Fund typically has two thirds of the assets invested in equities and the remainder split between cash, fixed income and alternatives.
Backed by the resources and expertise of a full research team, an outsourced multi-asset manager not only focuses on delivering the investment performance you expect but also ensures that the portfolio composition remains within pre-agreed risk parameters.
The manager also takes responsibility for ensuring that portfolios are properly diversified and blended and that any cross-holdings are controlled.
The portfolio is modelled on the RBC Brewin Dolphin International MPS Passive Plus Balanced Strategy, which aims to deliver outstanding value by predominantly using lower-cost index funds to gain market exposure.
- Genuinely impartial – A robust and disciplined investment process driven by the resources and expertise of the Asset Allocation Committee and in-house research team.
- Diversified risk – Collective investments spanning a range of asset classes and geographies spread risk across the portfolio, with fund selection and asset allocation managed conservatively to meet the objective.
- Long-term track record - While past performance is not a guide to future performance, RBC Brewin Dolphin demonstrates an impressive long-term track record of consistently delivering performance in line with portfolio objectives.
- Experienced team - Having navigated many economic cycles, the team has the experience and composure to make considered decisions under pressure.
Active vs passive funds?
Neither pure active nor pure passive investing tells the whole story. The Guinness Multi-Asset Balanced Fund draws on both, deploying each where it adds the most value. It combines lower-cost index funds with selective allocations to actively manage strategies where fundamental research and stock selection can make a meaningful difference to long-term outcomes.
The result is a portfolio built to be cost-conscious without sacrificing the potential to outperform. For investors who want competitive long-term returns without paying for active management across the board, that balance is the core of the proposition.
The Guinness Multi-Asset Balanced Fund could be suitable for investors with a medium risk profile who are mindful of costs while seeking superior long-term returns through a blend of active vs passive funds.

The July 2026 report reviews a strong second quarter for risk assets, supported by easing Middle East tensions and continued AI investment. Emerging markets gained 24%, Asia ex Japan 28% and the S&P 500 15%, while oil prices fell 38% following the US–Iran ceasefire agreement. At 30 June, both Multi-Asset Funds retained small tactical overweights to equities and cash, with underweights to bonds and alternatives; government and inflation-linked bonds were favoured over corporate credit. The Balanced Fund returned 19.1% over the 12 months to June, versus 17.1% for its IA sector average, while the Growth Fund returned 22.0%, versus 19.0% for its sector. The report remains cautious about elevated equity valuations, AI investment assumptions and inflation risks.
