Guinness China RMB Income
Überblick
The Guinness China RMB Income Fund aims to provide investors with a combination of capital appreciation and income.
A range of factors point to long-term appreciation in the Renminbi, the official currency of China. In purchasing power parity terms, it appears undervalued both on absolute measures and relative to the country’s net foreign assets.
The Guinness China RMB Income Fund targets capital appreciation and income while seeking to benefit from the long-term increase in the Renminbi's value.

Currency appreciation of the Renminbi of 1.5% - 2.5% a year against its trade-weighted basket appears possible over the next 10 years. Its gradual appreciation over the long term has several drivers:
- Orthodox monetary policy - With its orthodox monetary policy, the People’s Bank of China is closer to being the ‘Bundesbank of Asia’ than the majority of western central banks.
- US dollar weakness - The US Dollar is the world’s reserve currency and will remain so for many years, but US fundamentals have been deteriorating.
- Inflation - China’s current account is growing and its China’s lower inflation rate aids competitiveness.
- Opening capital markets - China is opening up its asset management and bond markets to allow foreigners access to what is set to become the world’s second biggest capital market.
To capture these trends, the Fund invests in a range of bonds and fixed income investments which will be denominated or hedged back to Renminbi. It buys government and quasi-sovereign bonds in the onshore China bond market and supranational and high-grade corporate credit in the offshore bond market.
The Fund is a high conviction strategy is targeting a duration of three years or less and a yield of c.3%.
The Guinness China RMB Income Fund could suit investors looking for diversifying bond exposure or exposure to currency moves in the Renminbi.
